ITANAGAR, Feb 13: Governor Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.) has greeted the people especially the Singpho community on the auspicious occasion of Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi.
In his message, the Governor said that Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi, with its ritualistic ceremonies, songs, dances, cultural programmes, community feasts, literary activities and interaction sessions has become a medium in preserving our heritage. I call upon the Singpho elders and the youths alike to promote this event in the state and abroad. Let us further strengthen our traditions, culture and carry it forward to cement the bondings in our fold, he exhorted. On this auspicious occasion, I join my Singopho people in offering prayers to invoke Shapawng Yawng for the blessings for each one of us and grant us peace, progress and prosperity, he said in his message.

Concerned about the Covid pandemic, the Governor urged the people to observe the festival at home and eschew mass congregations and follow covid SOPs.
