ITANAGAR, Jan 13: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) has extended his heartiest festival greetings to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti.
In his message, the Governor said that Makar Sankranti is one of the most auspicious occasions for the Hindu community. This sacred day, marks the beginning of a propitious phase of nature’s benevolent changes and the northerly transition of the energy provider Sun for the ease of the people. Makar Sankranti also marks the beginning of warmer and longer days in the run up to the next equinox, he said.
The Governor further said that for Arunachal Pradesh and the Arunachalis, this festival has a special meaning. The holiest of the Holy bathing place, Parasuram Kund, is located in Lohit District of Arunachal Pradesh. Every year, on Makar Sankranti Day, we host thousands of people who come with religious fervor to the sacred Parasuram Kund and take holy dip with reverence and devotion, he said.
Welcoming all devotees and pilgrims to Parasuram Kund on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, on the behalf of the people, the State Government and on his own behalf, offered prayers for their wellbeing, safety and security during the pilgrimage. He also has directed the Lohit District Administration and Civil Police and the organizers of the Mela to leave no stone unturned for ensuring care and convenience of the Parasuram Kund visiting pilgrims.
May Almighty Parasuram ji grant his blessings for the happiness of each and every one of us, the Governor wished in his message.
