ITANAGAR, May 24: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) met Defence Minister  Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday. They deliberated upon the security of borders and the need for collaborative development between the security forces and the vibrant villages near the border.
The Governor emphasized the need for comprehensive surveillance of the border areas and coordination between the intelligence agencies. He apprised the Defence Minister of the need for providing additional Central Armed Police forces to guard the border as well as deter smuggling of narcotics in the State.
Parnaik, reviewed air services in Arunachal Pradesh, stressing on reactivation of Alinye advanced landing ground (ALG) in Dibang Valley District and construction of ALG in Dirang, West Kameng District, which will go a  long way in optimizing operational efficiency and facilitating tourism in the State.
He also shared with the Defence Minister his recent interactions with the armed forces in the State. He extended an invitation to the Defence Minister to visit Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor who is on an official tour to the National Capital also met the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation General V.K. Singh (Retd.) today. They deliberated upon construction of new air strips and infrastructure at Advance Landing Grounds (ALG) to augment the air services in the State.
The Governor proposed construction of new air strips at Richi (Daporijo) and Tarmoba (Aalo). He requested the MoS (CA) to instruct the Airport Authority of India to explore the techno-economic feasibility and prepare a master plan.
Parnaik also asked the Minister for reactivating the Alinye ALG in Dibang Valley District and expediting the construction of the ALG at Dirang, West Kameng District. He also urged the MoS (CA) for expediting the construction of a civil terminal building at Vijoynagar ALG, in Changlang District.
