ITANAGAR, Apr 12: In the wake of the recent spike of Covid cases in the state, Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) today convened an all-party meeting at the Raj Bhavan to discuss new strategies for fighting the pandemic’s second wave.
President, State BJP and MLA Bihuram Wahge, State Vice President of Indian National Congress Rajen Nani, MLA Tapak Taku, MLA, National People’s Party Mutchu Mithi, MLA, Janata Dal (United) Techi Kaso and President Kafpa Bengia and Chairman, People’s Party of Arunachal Kameng Ringu were among others who attended the meeting. While taking suggestions from the leaders the Governor advised them to make individual and collective efforts in fighting the pandemic. “The fight against the pandemic has to be a concerted effort by all and being a cause of people’s welfare which is above party politics, the state’s political leaders being senior, experienced and well-known individuals can lead the people in ensuring that they maintain all COVID protocols,” he observed, while urging them to work with the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ and spread mass awareness on COVID vaccination.
Exhorting the leaders to set targets at personal, group and social levels for making the ongoing ‘Tika Utsav’ successful, the Governor expressed hope that with people’s participation, awareness and responsible behaviour, Covid will be contained in Arunachal Pradesh. He also shared his deep concern about drug addiction among the state’s younger generation and advised the leaders to fight the menace at individual, group and social levels.
During discussion, the leaders suggested free testing, vaccination for all age groups, strict Covid checking at the state’s entry points, increasing quarantine facilities, imposition of restriction on mass gathering and involvement of NGOs in fighting the second wave. PRO Raj Bhavan
