ITANAGAR, Feb 25: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have greeted the people in particular the Nyishi community on the festive occasion of Nyokum.
In his message, the Governor said that Nyokum Yullo is one of the most important festivals of the Nyishi Tribe. This festival is the continuation of the rich traditions and cultural contexts of the Nyishi fold. It now devolves on the new generations to reflect on the vibrant cultural traditions of the community and strengthen, preserve, protect and re-enforce the Nyishi cultural identity. I am sanguine that the present generation of the will continue to guide the coming generations to keep their ethos going, he said.
In a festival message this evening, Khandu hailed the Nyishis for zealously safeguarding their rich culture and reliving their tradition by celebrating Nyokum Yullo with zeal and enthusiasm in traditional fervor.
Joining the festivity, the Chief Minister expressed hope that Nyokum this year will bring in good health and wealth for the people of the state.
“May Ane Nyokum shower her choicest blessings on our Nyishi brethrens and all sentient beings of the world,” Khandu prayed.
