Governor in his message said that the holy occasion of Buddha Purnima commemorates the birth, enlightenment and Nirvana of Lord Buddha, the fountainhead of Buddhism and his preachings of the Noble Eightfold Paths for the welfare of people, viz., right views, right thoughts, right speech, right conduct, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness and right meditation will always be relevant and perennially benevolent for mankind.
“On this sacred day, I join my people of Arunachal Pradesh and the Buddhist community all over the world in offering prayers to Lord Buddha for his blessings to all,” Governor said in his message.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu has extended his heartiest greetings to the people of the state on the pious occasion of Buddha Purnima. A devout Buddhist himself, Khandu said Buddha Jayanti is always an important day in the lives of Buddhists, but the day holds specific importance as it falls on a full moon day considered truly holy.
He called upon the people to take out time, irrespective of their religious affiliations and reflect on Lord Buddha’s teachings of compassion, peace and honesty, the virtues which are fast losing out to modern day’s materialistic cravings.
“May the full moon of Buddha Purnima remove the darkness of ignorance, bigotry and hatred and herald an era of contentment, peace and enlightenment for the world,” CM’s message read. PRO Raj Bhavan, CMO
