The Longte festivity also coincides with Bohag Bihu, also called Rangali Bihu which is observed to celebrate the onset of the New Year in Assam and I convey my good wishes to them, the Governor said while expressing hope that sanctity of the traditions of the Nyishi people and the festivity of Bihu would herald a happy and prosperous year ahead. Along with his wishes, the Governor has appealed to the citizens to observe all Covid precautions.
The CM in his message observed that Longte Yullo is one of the oldest and unique festivals of the Nyishi tribe with neither ritual sacrificing nor any ritual chanting, unlike the other indigenous festivals of the state. Khandu has also greeted the Assamese community on the occasion of Bihu.
