RONO HILLS, Feb 4: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) along with Chief Minister Pema Khandu today participated in the 38th Foundation Day celebrations of Rajiv Gandhi University here at the campus.
The Governor, who is also RGU’s Chief Rector presided over the event while the Chief Minister was the chief guest. Commending the efforts of the students and faculty and acknowledging the perceptible change that has taken place under the leadership of current Vice Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha which led to the lifting of the varsity’s ranking from 100th to 2nd in All India Central Universities Ranking, the Governor emphasized on conducive academic atmosphere and personality growth of students. While highlighting the need for a good teaching-learning environment he called for moulding the students into promising and informed citizens. Besides advising the faculties to be well prepared while delivering lessons, he reminded the need for implementing the new National Education Policy in RGU in letter and spirit.
Earlier in the day, the Governor unveiled the ‘Wall of Heroes’ at the campus, laid the foundation stone for spectators’ seating and a viewers’ gallery in the sports arena. He also felicitated the health centre personnel who played a commendable role during COVID pandemic, the retiring employees and Team RGU who participated in Republic Day celebration at the Raj Bhavan. The Chief Minister unveiled the university signage and laid the foundation stone of the Student's Activity Centre. 
The Foundation Day Speech was delivered by Vice-Chancellor, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Professor S.K. Srivastava. First Lady of the State Neelam Misra, local MLA Tana Hali Tara, Director General of Police R. P. Upadyaya along with other dignitaries, alumni and members of the university fraternity attended the celebration. PRO Raj Bhavan
