ITANAGAR, Dec 24: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.), Chief Minister Pema Khandu and State Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona have extended their good wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Christmas.
The Governor and the Chief Minister have also extended their greetings to the state’s people on the special occasion of Good Governance Day, observed annually on December 25 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Prime Minister of the country.
Conveying his Christmas greeting, the Governor hoped the festive occasion will usher in peace, love and tranquillity throughout the state, nation and world. “On this festive occasion, let us also resolve to beat back the threat of COVID19 pandemic by observing all necessary  protocols against the deadly virus,” his message read. Recounting the former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee as an illustrious statesman who assailed corruption and laxity in governance while extending his Good Governance Day greetings, the Governor expressed hope the occasion will foster more awareness among the people about public accountability of governments. “On this occasion, I join my beloved people of Arunachal Pradesh in paying tribute to the great nation builder, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee and rededicate ourselves to his ideals of good governance,” he said in his message.
Extending his Christmas greetings to the people of the state, the Chief Minister observed that the Christian believers along with their churches have been influencing thousands of lives and inculcating ‘fear of God’ and discipline in the Arunachalee society. “Christmas is the best time to express gratitude for the contributions made by the churches and the Christian organizations in growth of education and healthcare across the region,” he said. “May this Christmas unfold another new chapter in communal harmony, brotherhood, peace and prosperity in the state,” his message added. Wishing the people on the eve of Good Governance Day, he underscored the need for spreading awareness among the state’s people on accountability of government. 
While conveying his Christmas wishes, the State Legislative Assembly Speaker expressed hope the joyous occasion will spread the message of benevolence of Lord Christ and usher in peace, love and amity throughout the region, nation and the world.
