ITANAGAR, Jan 27: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) today chaired a high-level meeting to discuss about the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar. Minister for Rural Works Department, Honchun Ngadam, which is the nodal department for implementation of PMGSY along with Minister UD & Civil Supplies Kamlung Mosang attended the meeting.
The Governor emphasised that to bring development and prosperity to the rural areas, road connectivity is vital. With the availability of roads, proper health facility, education and economic activities will reach the masses enabling the rural population to become ‘Atma Nirbhar’. The remote circles, villages and areas of our State need to be road connected. PMGSY is the path through which it can be done.
The Governor discussed and pointed out that the Road from Miao to Vijaynagar about which a number of meetings have been held at the top level has still not received proper attention and progress on the road is disappointing. Work on Phase IV & V of the Road has made no progress. The Governor pointed out that Miao-Vijaynagar Road, in addition to being a boon for the people, has National strategic importance and this cannot be allowed to lag behind. This kind of delay in such an important Road construction, to say the least, is beyond comprehension. He stressed that timely and proper implementation, utilizing every Paise of the allocated fund in the project, must be ensured. He advised the ministers for close monitoring of Miao-Vijaynagar Road Project to ensure proper deployment of funds and manpower.
The Governor while discussing the issues of the Miao-Vijaynagar Road PMGSY Project, reiterated that the Vijaynagar area in the Eastern tip of the State has enormous potential for tourism for wildlife watch, adventure trekking, eco and cultural visits and huge scope for other economic activities as well. To harness these untapped potentials, Miao-Vijaynagar Road should be completed at the earliest, he said.
The Governor said that along with economic prosperity of the local people of Vijaynagar, Ramnagar and Gandhigram, the PMGSY Road will facilitate in conservation of the flora and fauna of the Namdapha National Park besides ensuring the National Security of the area.
Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Rural Works Department NT Glow and Technical Advisor to the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh Er. KC Dhimole were present in the meeting among others.
