ITANAGAR, Aug 6: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) today while reviewing the progress of the Greenfield Hollongi Airport exhorted the officials of the state and Airports Authority of India (AAI) involved in the dream project to work with determination to make it operational by August 15, 2022.
Visiting the site, the Governor reiterated that all involved departments like Environment & Forests, Power, Public Health Engineering and Water Supply, Public Works Department, Land Management and administration should put their shoulders together to make up the backlog of work caused due to Covid pandemic. Interacting with the senior officers of the departments engaged in the project, he advised them to increase men and material and work in an integrated and well-supervised way to make up the shortfalls to meet the completion deadline.
Civil Aviation Secretary Swapnil Naik and General Manager, Airports Authority of India Dilip M Sajnani briefed the Governor about the progress achieved so far and the critical issues coming in way for a timely completion. He was also briefed on the stopgap infrastructure being planned to make the Hollongi Airport operational on time in a pattern similar to the Kushinagar International Airport. 
Earlier, the Governor, along with the Civil Aviation Secretary and AAI GM inspected the ongoing works of the damaged boundary wall, runway and other under-construction structures at the project site.
