ITANAGAR, Dec 8: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) has asked the Commissioner, Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) and its engineers to take immediate steps to mitigate the uncontrolled garbage dumping problem in the ICR.
The Governor highlighted the problem while interacting with the IMC Commissioner Cheechung Chukhu and a team of engineers comprising Er. Bengia Kame, Engineer, IMC Part-I, Itanagar and Er. Tadar Tarang, Engineer, IMC Part-II, Naharlagun who met him today here at the Raj Bhavan. While enquiring about the steps taken to meet the health challenge arising out of uncontrolled garbage dumping and the pollution caused due to fire and smoke incineration in the dumping ground, he asked the Commissioner to find out an immediate solution to the problem. He further emphasized that a long-term plan catering for a minimum of 10 years should be chalked out and implemented for ensuring a proper municipal solid-based disposal system. The Governor will also have a meeting with the Minister Urban Development Kamlung Mosang on the issue.
The team briefed the Governor regarding the solid waste disposal site at Chimpu and its functioning.
