ITANAGAR, Jun 16: Border Roads Organization (BRO) has to ensure that the roads it builds in Arunachal Pradesh are cost-effective and qualitatively sound.  
Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) said this to BRO Director General Lt. General Rajeev Chaudhry, VSM who called on him today at the Raj Bhavan to discuss issues pertaining to strengthening of road communication in the state. Proper road communication is of paramount importance not only for Arunachal but also for the territorial security of the nation since the state shares international border with three countries, the Governor said while emphasizing on quality construction and application of latest technologies to avoid untimely deterioration. He also stressed on proper maintenance of roads so that they remain open for traffic round the year. 
The Governor pointed out to the BRO DG that due to inclement weather and heavy rainfall, disruption of road communication is a routine affair which causes hardship to the people especially at times of medical emergencies, transportation of perishable agricultural products and other economic activities. The BRO DG was further suggested to appropriately contribute in construction, upgradation and maintenance of the Miao-Vijoynagar road which is being taken up by the State Rural Works Department. He invited scientific advice and technical suggestions from the BRO in implementation of the strategic road project which will facilitate movement of heavy vehicles during emergencies.
The DG briefed the Governor about the roads and bridges taken up by BRO in the state and assured adherence to quality and proper maintenance of the BRO-executed roads. He also assured in sharing of expertise in road construction works at challenging locations with the Work departments of the state. PRO Raj Bhavan
