ITANAGAR, Apr 14: Governor Brig. (Dr) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) has appealed the state’s religious leaders to take the lead in fighting Covid-19 pandemic in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor made the appeal today while interacting with the heads of all religions through a videoconference from the Raj Bhavan. “The pandemic has assaulted all religions, faiths, spiritual values, principles and beliefs and thus people have to be united to defeat the pandemic and the religious leaders must take the lead in this endeavour,” he said. Religious leaders being the most respected individuals of society can guide and immensely contribute in the fight against coronavirus, the Governor opined while suggesting them to advise people in observing all SOPs and motivate the eligible members to get vaccinated at the earliest.
Iterating that enforcement of SOPs is not the responsibility of District Administrations, police personnel or the state government alone, the Governor called for concerted efforts from every member of society. Reposing his faith in the religious gurus and community leaders, he urged them to assist the illiterate and elderly people to get vaccinated and reach out to as many people as possible to secure the state from the pandemic’s onslaught.
Religious leaders representing various tribes, sects, creeds and functionaries of various faith groups from the districts interacted with the Governor in the videoconference. PRO Raj Bhavan
