ITANAGAR, Dec 8: State Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar today called on Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) here at the Raj Bhavan to brief him on the progress of various developmental projects currently under implementation in the state and also those in the pipeline. 
Focusing on the three core developmental issues of hydro-electricity, tourism and organic produce, the Chief Secretary informed the Governor that Arunachal Pradesh possess the potential to produce as much as 50 % of the country’s total hydro-electricity requirement. The Lower Subansiri hydro-electricity project with a capacity to generate 2000 MW of power will be on full commissioning the biggest project of its kind in the country, the CS informed, adding that it is making a good progress and by August 15, 2022 at least two units out of the total 8 are targeted to be commissioned. 
The Kameng project consisting of 4 units with a capacity to generate 600 MW power is ready for full commissioning before the end of 2020, out of which the state will be getting its share of 78 MW, the CS informed. While apprising the Governor that a number of MoUs for establishing multiple hydropower plants of different capacities have been signed with various agencies  including a mega project on Siang river, the CS informed that a few hurdles are delaying their launching. Detailing on telecommunications, the CS said under Bharat Broadband Network, 722 V-Sat terminals have been allotted to the state, out of which 182 have been installed so far at various remote locations during the last 10/11 months. Deliberating on the steps taken by the state to encourage organic farming, the CS highlighted the plans to establish one cluster farming unit in each assembly constituency for which 3000 hectares of land has already been identified.

While apprising the Governor that the state government has approached the concerned Central Ministry to establish a Girls Sainik School which has also been well received by the Sainik Schools Society, the CS informed that a central team had recently inspected the proposed site at Tawang. 
The Governor advised the CS to take up projects to promote the state’s traditional handloom and handicrafts, which despite having sound commercial prospects in metropolitan cities across the country are receiving low attention. PRO Raj Bhavan
