NAMSAI, Sep 11: Governor B.D. Mishra addressed a special Sainik Sammelan at 20 Madras Army Camp, Chongkham, here on Tuesday. The Governor felicitated the officers and personnel of the unit on the occasion for the yeoman service towards local people in the past few months, particularly during two successive fire accidents.
The Governor, who was commissioned to Madras Regiment in 1961 and commanded a unit of the Regiment in his illustrated army career, emphasized on discipline and honour of the Regiment. He advised them to live up to the motto of the Madras Regiment, i.e. “It is glory to die to do one’s duty”. Be prepared to lay down your life for the Nation and honour of your Battalion, the Governor said.
The Governor also interacted with the jawans over high tea and wished them a happy tenure in Arunachal Pradesh.
First Lady of the State, Neelam Misra, Deputy Commissioner, Namsai Dr Tapasya Raghav, Deputy Commissioner Lohit Karma Leki, Superintendent of Police, Namsai, Singhjatla Singpho and Superintendent of Police, Lohit P.N. Thungon were also present in the Sainik Sammelan.
The Governor also visited various projects, undertaken under the ‘Aspirational District’ programme in the district. He visited Health & Wellness Centre, Piyong and interacted with beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Saubhagya Scheme / Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
The Governor and the First Lady of the State also visited the residence of Monisor Payeng in Adi Ningroo Village, who has availed benefits from Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Saubhagya Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
Addressing a public meeting at Piyong, the Governor said the nation will develop when the last person in the queue is taken care of. Therefore, the government and administration should see that every needy person is taken care of and that will achieve the overall development.
The Governor also honoured the eldest Gaon Burah Lohani Mantaw, GB, Piyong Khampi and gave away the cheques to beneficiaries under Krishi Vigyan programme for promoting organic farming.
