ITANAGAR, Jan 10: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.) addressed the cadets of National Cadet Corps (NCC) at the Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat Camp (EBSB) conducted by the Additional Director General, NCC North Eastern Region at Tezpur University, Tezpur on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor exhorted the Cadets to imbibe leadership instinct to serve the Nation, develop sublime personality traits and join the Indian Armed Forces. NCC is a very important institution, which has been instilling nationalism, patriotism and spirit of ‘Nation First’ amongst the young students, he said.
Recalling his first NCC Camp in1955, in which he received the Best Social Service Award, the Governor said that it was the beginning of a life of punctuality and discipline. He said that NCC helps in character building, motivation, secular outlook, camaraderie, leaderships along with discipline and punctuality.  It inculcates self-discipline, obedience, sincerity and determination amongst the cadets. Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also a NCC cadet, the Governor advised them to follow the guiding principle of their organization to rise in life. NCC cadets must personify the motto of National Cadet Corps, which is ‘Unity and Discipline’, he said.
The Governor advised the cadets to have self pride and self respect. Cadets must study hard and think, believe, say and act for the Nation, he said.
First Lady of the State Neelam Misra, Major General Raju Chauhan, Additional Director General, NCC NER, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Tezpur Brig. KS Rao, Deputy Group Commander Col. RB Patil and Pro Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University Professor Dilip Kumar Saikia were also present amongst others.
Earlier on his arrival, a Guard of Honour was presented to the Governor commanded by Senior Under Officer Vanisha Dutta. Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat (EBSB) camp aims to provide opportunity to understand the cultural diversity, history, flora and fauna and its people. It also aims to create awareness amongst the cadets regarding diverse cultural heritage of the country. The EBSB camp at Tezpur University, which is being organised from January 1-12, has 600 cadets, which includes 100 cadets from Uttar Pradesh, and the rest from the eight groups of North Eastern Region (NER).
