Itanagar, Mar 26: With the objective of sorting out the modalities in streamlining the door-to-door delivery services during the ongoing 21-day lockdown period, Home Minister Bamang Felix on Thursday convened a meeting in this regard.
While acknowledging the grievances faced by citizens in getting essential services, Felix emphasised that e-commerce is the need of the hour. He said that government is doing its best to make the lockdown period easy and smooth for the common people. “While all commodities might not be available at this time, government is ensuring that at least the essential ones reach everyone,” he said, appealing all to understand the gravity of the situation. Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom informed that one or two grocery shops have been made operational in each locality where people can buy their essential commodities and if any complaint of vendors charging exorbitant price or issues like non-delivery of ration in time is received, action shall be initiated against the said vendor under the Disaster Management Act and other relevant acts. It was also decided in the meeting that to redress the citizens’ grievances regarding unavailability of doorstep delivery of ration, a centralized call centre which can work even from home shall be set up with 2 WhatsApp numbers.
Decision was also taken that bulk ordering shall be discouraged and a certain ceiling limit will be decided so that there are less chances of hoarding of essential commodities.
