PALIN, Apr 26: The vibrant spirit of the Puriok community echoed through the hills of Palin, Kra Daadi District, as the 3rd Joint Gumkum Gumpa Festival (GGF) unfolded in a spectacle of cultural unity and celebration here on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner Sunny K Singh and Riba Gyadi, CO Chambang, who attended the festival as Chief Guest and Guest of honour witnessed an array of cultural performances, games, and sports, showcasing the rich heritage and traditions of the Puriok community.
Addressing the gathering, DC Singh, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in Arunachal Pradesh, a state blessed with diverse tribal cultures. He emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting traditional practices through documentation, ensuring that the legacy of the elders is passed down to future generations.
Siji Punung, Chairman of the organizing committee, shed light on the significance of the Gumkum Gumpa Festival, highlighting its role in uniting scattered members of the Puriok community across different parts of Arunachal Pradesh. The festival served as a platform for bonding and camaraderie among community members.
During the concluding ceremony, Siji Punung presented a memorandum outlining key demands, including the allocation of festival grounds, funding support for local festivals, and job reservations for the Puriok community, to the Chief Guest and Guests of Honor.
Aside from cultural programs, the festival also featured various games and sports, adding to the festive atmosphere and fostering a sense of joy and unity among attendees.
