KIMIN, Dec 1:
Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein accompanied by the Minister of Environment & Forest, Nabam Rebia and the Chairman of Science & Technology, Bamang Mangha visited the under construction four storied building of the proposed Centre for Bio-resource & Sustainable Development at Kimin today.
Mein during his visit interacted with the scientists of the centre and urged them to work with true professionalism. He said that Arunachal has huge scope for research and development works in the field of bio-resource but the need of the hour is professional zeal to do so. He said that the government is emphasizing on Research and Development Wing and much support and initiatives have been taken up for strengthening the Research and Development wing. He said that in return, they (scientists) should also show something by their work and output. He said that there is also scope for developing Butterfly parks and bird bio-reserves in the State.
He suggested them to plant more bird eating fruit trees in the vicinity to turn the entire area into a bio-reserve along with the Research Centre.
Chairman, Science & Technology, Bamang Mangha informed that the 50 Crore project of proposed Centre for Bio-resource and Sustainable Development at Kimin is being developed under the Department of Science & Technology, Govt of India. He said that this Bio-resource Centre spreading in 7 acre of land would be a second such type in the entire North East Region and it will become the main centre of research works in the State. It will also facilitate the state government departments as well as the students of NERIST and RGU in their research works, he added.
He thanked the state government for approving annual recurring expenditure of Rs 5 Crore for the Bio-resource Centre, which he said is a big encouragement for the project and the research works. He also informed that 8 Scientists are already working in the Centre and doing their research works.
