ITANAGAR, Oct 8: The department of Agriculture launched the ‘ Chief Minister’s Sashakt Kisan Yojana, Chief Minister’s Krishi Samuh Yojana and Agri department web portal here today.
Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Mohesh Chai who attended as chief guest said as farmers are dependent on agriculture, the government is trying its best to help them in their production and income. Therefore, for transforming the rural farm economy of Arunachal Pradesh, so as to fulfill the vision of the Prime Minister to double farmer’s income by 2022, these schemes have been initiated by the Chief Minister. This will involve all allied departments under District Agricultural Development Society responsible for planning and implementation of farmers oriented development schemes under administrative control and supervision of Agriculture Development Society at State level, Chai added.
The Minister further stated, the government is coming out with many policies for the enhancement of farmer’s income one of such important policy, which the government is keen upon, is marketing linkage which will give the farmers whole new ways to increase their income and the other two equally important steps are scientific and integrated ways of farming.
Arunachal Pradesh produce around 4,500 metric tonnes of fish per year, whereas the requirement is about 15, 000 MT. He said the people of Arunachal have got a ready market for fish products, which is needed to be exploited by the farmers.
The Minister while talking about new approach in boosting the agriculture sector said, his department is working on ‘Agro-tourism’ which can provide financial backing to the farmers and to the state.
Earlier, Secretary Agriculture Mimum Tayeng explained in detail the CMSKY and CMKSY. The Chief Minister’s Sashakt Kisan Yojana will subsume three state flagship programmes, namely CM’s Employment Generation Scheme, CM’s Agri-Mechanization Programme and CM’s Flagship Programme on Tea and Rubber.
This is one of the approaches of decentralized planning by involving all stakeholders at the field level in planning, execution and implementation in order to derive best benefits of public sector investment for inclusive growth of farm sector in the State, he explained..
A book on CMSKY and CMKSY and website portal (www.agri.arunachal.gov.in) was launched by the Minister Agriculture on the occasion. And also Krishi card, a unique id card was distributed to 6 registered farmers.
