ITANAGAR, Sep 6: A preliminary coordination meeting with regard to Golden Jubilee Celebration of Arunachal Pradesh across the state was convened in the office chamber of the Speaker, Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Speaker Pasang D Sona, chaired the meeting which was attended by Education Minister Taba Tedir, Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte, MLA Nyamar Karbak, advisor to CM Dr Tangor Tapak and Commissioner to CM Sonam Chombey. MLA Chow Zignu Namchoom and State Protocol Officer Sadhana Deori also attended the meeting virtually through video-conferencing.
Erstwhile, North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) was renamed as Arunachal Pradesh on 20 January 1972.
Chairing the meeting, the Speaker informed that to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Arunachal Pradesh in a befitting manner the state is going to organise various events across the state from 20th January to 20th February next year.
Seeking ideas and comments from all for the successful conduct of Golden Jubilee Celebration, the Speaker said that elaborate arrangements must be made to celebrate the golden jubilee celebrations in a “befitting manner”.
During the course of the meeting, the members suggested cultural exchange programmes across the states like in early times. They also suggested making a documentary depicting the progress made by the state during the last 50 years to acquaint the people about the transition of Arunachal Pradesh from NEFA days.
The members also suggested organising essay, painting etc competition for all the educational institutions. Further, stressing that the celebration shouldn’t be colourful only but meaningful also, the members suggested for felicitation to freedom fighters and legendary artists of the state.
Meanwhile, the members unanimously resolved to bring out a logo and celebration tagline soon for smooth conduct of the events and to sit again to decide on the further course of action.
