Aalo, May 3: In a major addition to the healthcare services delivery infrastructure of West Siang district, a four-bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) here at General Hospital Aalo was commissioned on Sunday after inauguration by Minister Industry, Textile etc Er. Tumke Bagra.
Speaking on the occasion, Bagra said provision for ICUs in state’s General Hospitals was a Cabinet decision keeping in view the Covid-19 pandemic and efforts will be made to equip them by posting of Medicine Specialists and expert technicians for smooth functioning.
Highlighting the need for making the ICU functional which would cater to the needs of patients from neighbouring districts, he appreciated the role played by the APDA during the lockdown and urged Team West Siang to spread awareness on quarantine protocols to be maintained by people returning to the district in large numbers.
West Siang DC hailed it as a landmark event initiated by the state government during the crisis period and said it will go a long way in catering to emergency medical needs of critical patients. DMO Dr. Moli Riba and Medical Superintendent Dr. Linya Lollen said the district is privileged to get the ICU and posting of technicians will be made and training imparted to selected nurses.
They also extended gratitude to the RWD and Electrical departments for their support in completing the project in a time-bound manner. DIPRO
