AALO, May 4: The gas agencies here in the township have been instructed by ADC-cum-Nodal Officer, Covid-19 Liyi Bagra to deliver LPG cylinders and other related services to the homes of consumers as a step for avoiding gatherings and minimising the risk of spread of the pandemic.
The step has been taken keeping in view of gatherings at the offices of the agencies which violate Covid-19 SOPs. The Bin Three Gas agency has already started providing LPG cylinders directly to consumers’ homes after getting calls through the WhatsApp group opened specifically for the purpose. The District Administration has observed that SOPs like wearing masks have been quite encouraging in the district after repeated awareness campaigns and imposition of fine by the police, but social distancing, use of sanitizers, minimum gathering and other dos and don’ts are still not being maintained by many citizens. The tendency to panic and the mad rush for everything in an already critical situation without taking precaution will only complicate the Covid containment endeavours, it said. Moreover, when Covid vaccination was rolled out first in the district, there was reluctance on part of many of the eligible candidates and the HODs had to take the first doses as a confidence building exercise. However, in the second phase there is a mad rush for vaccines marked with long queues at the district’s vaccination centres.
The Medical Department is having a tough time in generating Covid related awareness in one hand and administering the vaccines on the other. DIPRO
