ITANAGAR, Feb 23: The automatic (Mechanical) parking lot at Ganga in the state capital which is currently under construction is scheduled to be completed within April 2022.
This was informed today by Executive Engineer-UD (Capital Division) Gyamar Tachung while speaking to the media. The EE disclosed that the G+5 building is coming up with a cost of Rs 14.71 crores and will provide parking space to at least 100 vehicles. “The original dateline for the project was April 2021. Although it started in January 2019, due to issues like shifting of old transport office, land possession as well as PRC and COVID-19 disruptions, construction works experienced halts,” Tachung informed, assuring however that the April 2022 deadline will not be missed. Elaborating on the facilities the parking lot will offer, he informed that besides parking it will also have a cafeteria, canteen and rooms for the officers of the Transport Department. A similar project is also coming up at ESS Sector, however, although it will have space for at least 170 vehicles, cafeteria and canteen facilities will not be available, he added.
When asked about the management aspect of the parking lot after completion, the EE said it is the prerogative of the government to run it either by the Urban Development or Transport departments and as of now the priority is to complete the project within deadline.
