ITANAGAR, Oct 1: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have greeted the people on the occasion of 151st birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
Describing the Mahatma as an apostle of non-violence and amity whose ideals and teachings have been the sources of inspiration for a peaceful and equitable world, the Governor in his message hoped this year’s Gandhi Jayanti will motivate all Indians to participate in addressing every challenge with the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. “On the momentous occasion, I call upon my beloved people of Arunachal Pradesh to imbibe the Gandhian spirit and values to realize his dream of making the country more secular, democratic, tolerant, progressive and self-reliant,” his message read.
Conveying his greetings, the Chief Minister said Gandhi’s teachings are relevant for all times.
“Let’s adopt 'Swachhta hi Sewa' to keep Arunachal clean and free of diseases,” he appealed to the citizens and advised them to strictly follow all COVID SOPs like social distancing, wearing mask, washing hands  and using hand sanitizer.
Meanwhile, a film on the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi titled ‘Gandhi Jayanti 2020’ which has been conceptualised, scripted and voiced by the state’s First Lady Neelam Misra was released on Thursday by the Commissioner to Governor Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda.
Releasing the documentary, Dr. Hooda said the film highlights the ideals of the Mahatma, particularly on dignity of labour, selfless service, cleanliness, self-reliance and economic independence that are the core aims of the visions of ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’.
He further informed that the film also highlights the endeavour of the Arunachalees for realisation of Swachh Bharat and attaining financial empowerment through traditional economic ventures. PRO Raj Bhavan, CMO
