ITANAGAR, Aug 16: The frontal organisations of the Galo Welfare Society (GWS) have objected to the visit by the Hage Tari Committee at Kora Circle under Lower Siang District, and have appealed the state government to immediately call off the scheduled public hearing on August 17 next.
The terms of office of Hage Tari Committee has already expired on 31.03.2021 as per the Order No.DAD-54/2018/66 Dated 17th February 2021, as such it has no locus standi in terms of its validity that has already expired, stated the Galo Peoples’ Federation (GPF), Galo Students’ Union (GSU) and Galo Youth Organization (GYO), in a joint press statement
While strongly objecting to the visit of Hage Tari Committee, press statement cited that the present Committee cannot supersede the recommendation of Groups of Minister (GoM) led by Kamlung Mossang, that has already visited and conducted public hearing long back.
Terming the Hage Tari Committee as unconstitutional, organizations questioned the short notice issued by the Committee on August 13 for public hearing on August 17 as ‘nothing but deliberate attempt to restrain people from Kora circle residing across the state from participating in the hearing process.’
Claiming that the Hage Tari Committee has already been rejected by Galo Welfare Society on several occasions, the Galo bodies appealed to the state government to immediately recall the Committee on Kora Circle Issue and take firm stand and notify the appointment date of Lower Siang District as well as administrative control of Kora Circle may be entrusted to ADC Nari under Deputy Commissioner, Lower Siang District.
Informing that the situation in Kora Circle is tense and volatile and there is likelihood of law and order problems if the said hearing is not postponed, the signatories said that the Committee led by Hage Tari, East Siang District Administration, and DA/GA Department shall be held responsible for any untoward incident.
The organisations appealed its counterpart organisations not to provoke the situation by any means of intimidation instead maintain the age old relation and peaceful co-existence of two brothers.
The state government should immediately resolve the issue before the issue takes ugly turn, as there are chances of anti-social element taking undue advantage of the present situation, stated the release and added, in the event of any such incident, the state government shall be solely responsible.
