LIKABALI, Apr 14: The Galo Welfare Society and Mising Ba:ne Kebang signed an accord to promote "peace, harmony, brotherhood, cooperation, goodwill, unity and cultural exchange” between citizens residing along the inter-state boundary districts of Dhemaji, Assam and Lower Siang of Arunachal Pradesh.
The accord was jointly signed by GWS President Er. Tanga Kena, and MBK President, Paramananda Chayengiya on Wednesday on the auspicious occasion of Silver Jubilee Hime Mopin Celebration 2022 at Hime villge under Kangku Circle, Lower Siang district. Chief Minister Pema Khandu was present among a host of other dignitaries.
The historic Hime Declaration is an initiative of Hime Mopin Celebration Committee under the aegis of GWS and MBK to maintain the age-old relation of friendship, humanity and cultural brotherhood between Mising and Galo communities of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and accord pledged to rise above religion, caste, creed, community, language and boundaries. The accord also declared not to resort to or support violence and intolerance under any circumstances on issues pertaining to individual interest that tends to disturb peace and tranquillity in the areas, the GWS said in a press statement today.
