AALO, Jul 27:In the final match of the football tournament organised to mark Kargil Diwas, local team G-XI lifted the trophy beating Army 3-0 at General Football Ground on Wednesday.
In the morning, a Cycle Race was flagged off by Subedar Shatrughan Singh, Veer Chakra and a war hero of Kargil War. The day also unfolded with a Cycling event from Aalo General Ground to Pobdi village and back to Richpal Chowk where 183 locals and army personnel took part.
Later in the evening, Brigadier J. S. Budhwar, Commander 5-Infantry Brigade Aalo, spoke about the importance of the day and the valour of the soldiers. The ex-army men were also felicitated on the occasion and prizes for victorious team and other events were given away by the parents of Kirti Chakra late Naik Tape Yajo.
