ITANAGAR, Dec 4: Union Power Secretary Sanjiv Nandan Sahai undertook a tour to Changlang on Thursday to make a review of the progress of ongoing construction of mini and micro-hydro projects in the district.
Union Joint Secretary (Hydro) Tanmay Kumar, CMD, NHPC A.K. Singh and CMD, PGCIL K. Sreekant accompanied the Union Power Secretary.
The meeting was chaired by MLA, Changlang (South) Phosum Khimhum wherein the representatives of the State Hydropower Department apprised the visiting team on various issues concerning the projects such as erection of transmission lines by PGCIL etc.
The Union Power Secretary assured all necessary help and support from the Central Ministry. On his arrival at Changlang helipad, the Power Secretary was accorded a warm welcome by Deputy Speaker, State Assembly Tesam Pongte, Changlang (South) MLA, In-charge Deputy Commissioner, SP and other senior officials from the NHPC and PGCIL.
At the Circuit House, the Secretary (Power) who served as the DC of Changlang from 1991-94 was given a warm traditional welcome by the local residents who recalled Sahai’s contributions in development of the district.
