Itanagar, Sep 9: The National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. (NSE) and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) jointly conducted a Regional Investor Seminar for Awareness (RISA) at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Itanagar. The programme drew enthusiastic participation from students, teaching faculty, and non-teaching staff.
The event began with a welcome address by Bishnu Dev Haldar, Dean of FTII, who highlighted the importance of financial literacy for all sections of society.
Joy Agarwal, Assistant General Manager, SEBI, delivered a session on the Basics of the Capital Market. He explained SEBI’s regulatory role, the procedure for opening demat accounts, the role of intermediaries, and cleared common myths related to investing.
This was followed by a presentation by Amrita Guha Basu, Chief Manager, NSE Kolkata Regional Office, who focused on scams and frauds in the capital market. She cautioned participants against misleading investment advice often spread through social media and other platforms, while also sharing practical safety measures.
The seminar concluded with remarks by Utsav Parmar, Registrar of FTII, who thanked NSE and SEBI for their initiative and urged participants to apply the financial knowledge gained in both personal and professional contexts.
The RISA session provided participants with valuable insights into capital markets, equipping them to make informed decisions and remain alert to risks.
