ITANAGAR, Nov 11: Fridays for Future, an environmental organisation in a representation addressed to the Chief Minister Pema Khandu has requested him to ban bursting of crackers during the ensuing Deepawali celebration. Referring to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order issued on November 6 to 18 States prohibiting ban on sale and use of firecrackers and accordingly implemented by few states, the organisation requested the CM to impose a similar ban in Arunachal Pradesh. The organisation further citing the advisory issued by state Department of Health and Family Welfare and Arunachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board appealed citizens to avoid busting of crackers adding that festival of light can be celebrated joyously in an eco-friendly manner.
