ITANAGAR, May 12: Keeping in tune with the prevailing trend of ups and downs of Covid cases and casualties, Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday saw its daily cases surpassing recoveries, unlike the day before. And with the death of a Covid patient, the state’s casualty tally is now 69.
The 59-year old male Covid patient who died on Tuesday was an ITBP personnel from 9th BN ITBP, Lohitpur, Tezu in Lohit district. He had multiple comorbidities and was tested Covid positive through RAT at Sunpura check gate on May 11. Among the 279 new cases detected across the state on Wednesday, 73 were from the ICR. The other districts that witnessed significant additions were – Lower Subansiri 35, Lohit 33, Namsai 24, Papum Pare 20 and East Siang 19. LDV which during the last 10 days was contributing a large number of cases saw 16 fresh cases on the day. After adding the day’s rise, the state’s current Covid active cases are now 2094. With 108 recoveries (ICR 40, LDV 11 and Lower Subansiri 10 the first three), the state’s recovery/discharge count has reached 18691. In terms of number of Covid patients currently under home isolation, ICR has the maximum with 450 followed by LDV 198 and Lower Subansiri 152.
Tests have seen an increase over the previous day with 3334 samples collected on Wednesday. Maximum collections were from Namsai 508, followed by ICR 425, West Kameng 381 and Lower Subansiri 393. There are currently 41 Covid patients at DCH Chimpu, 54 at SQF Lekhi, 9 at DCHC Midpu, 5 at DCH Pasighat and 6 at DCHC.
