ZIRO, Mar 12:  A maiden 45-day free taxi driving course for aspiring unemployed taxi drivers of Lower Subansiri District was inaugurated at Industrial Training Institute Ziro here today.
The training programme is a component of Centre’s flagship Prime Minister’s Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) 03 Skill India and the training provider is NEEDS from Dehradun. 70 trainees divided into four batches would be imparted 266 hours of driving class lessons including classroom and practical. Classroom lessons would comprise lessons on traffic rules and regulations and road safety measures while practical classes would include driving lessons in every aspect. At end of the training programme successful trainees would be awarded Learner’s Driving License and interested drivers would be helped in getting placements as taxi drivers in private companies within and outside the state.
The programme was inaugurated by Principal ITI Ziro Gyati Kacho. He advised the trainees to make best use of the opportunity to skill themselves with the art of driving to generate employment for themselves.   Representatives of NEEDS Dehradun also spoke on the occasion explaining the course components of the training programme.Formal classes would start from coming Monday onwards.
