Sagalee, Oct 12: World Sight Day was celebrated here at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Sagalee sub-division of Papum Pare district in a unique way through a free eye checking & mass awareness camp which was participated by a host of medical professionals.
The camp was organized by the former Chief Minister and Sagalee MLA Nabam Tuki in collaboration with capital’s RK Mission Hospital headed by its Secretary, Swami Vishweshananda Maharaj and supported by local administration led by ADC S Lowang and Mission for Vision, Mumbai. More than 190 people got benefited from the camp which was attended by 2 eye specialists, 4 paramedics, 2 optical units and 1 project manager. Medicines were also distributed for free and spectacles in subsidized rates. 21 cataract patients were transported to RK Mission Hospital for free surgery while 65 spectacles were dispensed.
Additional Director, Department of Medial Education, Research & Training Dr R Doyi was among others present on the occasion.
