BOMDILA, Feb 4: The pre-budget regional consultative meeting for the districts of Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng and Pakke Kesang was held today here at the DC’s conference hall.
Minister, Youth Affairs & Sports, Water Resources, Environment & Forest Mama Natung, Adviser to Environment & Forest Kumsi Sidisow, MLAs, ZPCs, Secretary, Planning NT Glow, Joint Director Planning Okep Tayeng, DCs and DPOs of the four districts attended the meeting which was held under chairmanship of Adviser, Planning & Investment Jambey Tashi. While speaking on topography, cultural and climatic diversity of the districts which are different from each other, Natung said the objective of conducting pre-budget regional consultative meetings is to understand the problems and potential of each district. The MLAs and DCs of East Kameng and Pakke Kessang placed their proposals for development of various sectors through PPTs and cited poor road connectivity as the main bottleneck for overall development. The MLAs and DCs of West Kameng and Tawang while placing their respective developmental proposals stressed on harnessing the tourism potential of both the districts.
In 2019 approximately 56000 tourists visited Tawang which is more than its total population (44000 as per 2011 census) and both the districts although having huge tourism potential are still lacking the basic facilities like power supply, road connectivity, parking facilities etc.
Health, education, tourism, road connectivity, agriculture, horticulture, hydropower, sustainable development, shortage of human resources, employment generation and infrastructure requirements were some of the key issues discussed in the meeting. DIPRO
