CHANGLANG, Aug 19: The Anti Drug Squad (ADS) of Changlang district police on Tuesday apprehended three suspects and the kingpin involved in drug trafficking in the township.
On the spot interrogation revealed that brown sugar was purchased from Assam and brought up to Namdang check gate by agents from Assam side by hiding the contraband substance inside a Bolero pick up carrying bricks.
The team led by Insp C A Namchoom, OC PS Changlang and his team carried out the raid under supervision of SP Changlang Mihin Gambo following inputs about drug trafficking on MC road near Namdang gate.
The three suspected persons have been identified as Duyu Sunny (30), Sentum Poyun (35) and Tuleshwar Chetia (38) and 141 gm (approx) suspected contraband drug and cash amount Rs 25,000 was recovered from their possession. Based on their disclosure, the kingpin of the alleged drug trafficking one Techom Tangha (49) was also apprehended from Changlang town, an official release stated.
Further, the ADS also seized one Mahindra bolero pickup, one motorcycle and four mobile phones belonging to the accused drug traffickers. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Changlang PS under NDPS Act and further investigation is on. SP Changlang
