ITANAGAR, Jan 21: Days after a fire accident at Director of Textile & Handicrafts office gutted finished products put on display in a two-week-long exhibition, an NGO, Arunachal NGO & Entrepreneurship Forum (ANGOEF), has requested to State government to compensate the losses suffered by SHGs, weaver, artisans, etc. In a press release, the NGO also urged the state government to introduce insurance schemes for SHGs, weavers, artisans, etc. so that if any such untoward incident happens they can claim and apply for compensation.
" The state government should understand the pain of local artisans whose products were all gutted in the incident and whose livelihood depended entirely on selling their products,” it appealed.
