ITANAGAR, Sep 24: The Yingkiong Anti Corruption and Social Welfare Activist Forum on Tuesday drew the attention of Chief Minister towards poor internet connectivity, erratic power supply, rampant usage of toxic chemicals for irrigation and wildlife hunting under the district.
“Erratic power supply and nonexistence of 4g internet connectivity have crippled lives of people. In this digital age, when rest of the world are enjoying 4g and 5g services,  50% of villages under Upper Siang have not even 2g internet connectivity,” it informed.
It also alleged that frequent disconnections of electricity supply and non-existence of internet connectivity are hugely affecting works in offices, banks and in carrying out business activities. In the meantime, it urged CM to direct the concerned authority to revive the abandoned Anggong Nallah Hydro Power Project to mitigate the power shortage in the district.
The forum also called for banning rampant hunting of wildlife and transport, sale and use of all toxic pesticides including imposing a ban on the use of Air guns.
Admitting that introduction of pesticides had contributed greatly to pest control and agricultural output, however the forum alleged that on the other hand its rampant usage is playing havoc with human and other life forms.
It requested the District administration to impose a blanket ban on selling and use of such toxic chemical in agriculture and promote organic farming.
Impartial inquiry into the various complaints of people against corruption and anti-social activities, adherence of guidelines, norms, and specifications in awarding and execution of contracts works, etc were among its core demands. Newsdesk
