ITANAGAR, Oct 24:Following expiry of its ultimatum served to the government to renovate the road leading to Jote, the United Sangdupota Intellectual Youth Forum (USIYF) today began its first phase of democratic movement with a ‘Rasta Roko’ on Tuesday.

The Forum has been demanding immediate renovation of road between Itanagar to Jote, which is lying in pathetic condition without any maintenance since last many years along with few other demands.

 Addressing media persons, USIYF Chairman Teli Tadap Camdir recalled the hardships being faced by common people of the area due to absence of an all-weather road in the area.

 Highlighting indifference of government, Camdir alleged that while many important projects like NIT, entrepreneur development institute, Government Law College, Film and Television Institute etc has been sanctioned in area, the government failed to provide proper road connectivity.

 Tadap also alleged that after repeated complaints, a tender has been allotted few months back for the construction of the said road, but the concern authority is yet to award the contract works to executing firm.

 “We will continue our movement until the road is repaired and made worthy for movement of public and vehicle, he added.
