NAMSAI, Jun 21: Former  Tai Khampti  Chief and President Tai Khampti Singhpoo Council, Chow Meohou Namchoom passed away at his residence in Chowkham at the age of 80 on Tuesday.
Born on August 17, 1942, Namchoom served the Khampti society to the best of his abilities right from a very young age. He did his schooling from the Government School in Chowkham and went on to pursue his studies at the Don Bosco School in Gauhati. But when his father Chow Nanda Namchoom passed away, he had to give up his education and take up the family business to help support his family.
He also took an active part during the Chinese Aggression in the year 1962 which meant helping and aiding the Indian Army at the time. He has been accoladed by Indian Army several times for his valuable services to the nation during that testing time.
He is survived by three daughters and  granddaughter.
