YUPIA, Oct 29: Police arrested former Chairman PAJSC Techi Puru in connection with the protest held outside the Yupia Court premises on October 27 last, related to the ongoing Talo Potom–late Gomchu Yekar case.
The protest, which turned violent, prompted the Papum Pare District Court Bar Association (PPDCBA) to lodge a formal First Information Report (FIR) with the Officer-in-Charge of Doimukh Police Station.
According to the FIR signed by the central executive members of the PPDCBA, a mob of over 100 individuals assembled and began protesting outside the CJM and JMFC Court compound at around 2:00 PM, in connection with Nirjuli Police Station Case No. 92/2025. The situation escalated when protesters allegedly forced their way through the main gate, entering the court compound and attempting to breach the courtroom premises while legal proceedings were underway.
In its statement, the Bar Association condemned the act as “unlawful and disruptive,” asserting that it endangered the safety of legal practitioners and undermined the sanctity of the judicial institution. The association has urged the authorities to take stern action against all those involved in the violence.
As per sources, Puru was in Court to appear for the ongoing APPSC Job Scam case when the Judge identified him and ordered him to be detained for his involvement in the protest held on October 27 next.
