ITANAGAR, Oct 15: In an interview with a local channel, Former Home Minister Kumar Waii claimed that present Chief Minister Pema Khandu has deceived the people of Arunachal on transparency in governance and on various pending developmental projects of the state.
Waii slammed CM Khandu for cherry-picking a particular construction company, M/s TK Engineering, to complete the project by March 31 next and has asked the Chief Minister to commit completion dates for the road projects undertaken by himself and his family members. He also alleged the Pema Khandu government of unleashing Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax agencies to freeze M/s TKE Consortium’s banking accounts.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu himself and his kith & kin are involved in various road projects in Arunachal. Roads from Hunli to Anini in Dibang Valley, a package in Trans-Arunachal Highway, Sessa to Zero Point in West Kameng, several pakages from Joram to Koloriang are being executed by him and his family members’ companies but he is mute on target to complete those projects, claimed Waii.
"I am not against Pema Khandu or development projects but as a former Minister I am questioning the government agenda for transparency," stated Former Home Minister Waii while adding that most of the big projects are being executed by the CM himself or by his kith & Kin.
He further claimed that PMGSY road in Tuting is being executed by his (Khandu's) brother Tashi Khandu and almost all the PMGSY road in West Kameng are with MLA Jambey Tashi.
Continuing his claim, the Former Home Minister alleged that Chief Minister hasn’t responded to his letter seeking information on Smart City projects, Green Field Airport. “As per report, Rs 1500 crore was sanctioned for Pasighat Smart City and Rs 1600 crore for Itanagar but there is no transparency on 'where and how' fund has been used. Further, the state government has inked MoU with at least 80 power developers but till date there are no updates, whereas liabilities for Rs 200 crore borrowed from NHPC to revive the Apex Bank has now reached up to Rs 1200 to Rs 1400 crore,” Waii claimed.
