PASIGHAT, Jun 18: In a convocation ceremony held at Crowne Plaza, Mayur Vihar, Noida, New Delhi on 15th June last, the Hawkins University of Texas, United State of America has conferred Honorary Doctorate award to Onyok Pertin, former Director IPR in recognition of his distinguished services of career leadership on social works, preservation and promotion of Adi cultures and traditions.
While sharing the news, Dr Pertin informed that he received the award along with 18 persons from across the country and he assured to continue social works for the betterment and welfare of Adi communities.
Dr. Pertin`s brief successful career and contribution includes, services spanning over 36 years in the department of IPR and retired as Director. His visionary leadership and roles in reviving Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) during 2007-2008; served as Secretary Hq of (ABK). His unwavering dedication to preserving and promoting indigenous cultures and traditions; served as Secretary and President of Solung Festival committees across Districts of State; for his notable roles in leading socio- cultural organizations as President of (AVP) Arunachal Vikash Parishad East Siang unit; as President COSAAP) of East Siang unit and as Executive Member of DPYK (Donyi Polo Yelam Kebang) and several other contributions in the field of Social & Cultural activities right from his student life to till date.
Pertin was also an active leader and worker since his student life from schooling at Mariyang, Yingkiong and then at JN College Pasighat before he joined as teacher and then finally as DIPRO.
