Pasighat, Jan 10: Field Outreach Bureau (FOB) Pasighat, Ministry of I & B, GoI today organized a 2-day long exhibition on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Swachhta Hi Seva, ban of Single Use Plastic (SUP) etc. under the banner of "Integrated Communication & Outreach Programme (ICOP)" here at the Murbuk Dere (Community Hall).
Deputy Commissioner, East Siang district Dr. Kinny Singh while inaugurating the exhibition as Chief Guest said that villagers as well as students must visit the exhibition and know the themes. She added that as GoI has clubbed Arunachal Pradesh with Uttar Pradesh on the theme 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' to promote tourism, visitors especially students should learn more through this exhibition about tourism and important places of Uttar Pradesh. Speaking as a Resource Person Associate Professor JN College Dr.Tamin Payum while elaborating on SUP pointed out that 95 lakh tonnes of plastic items and pet bottles are accumulating per annum out of which 38 lakh tonnes are getting deposited in various drainages affecting aquatic life. He requested the participants to avoid SUP and suggested to refuse polyethene carry bags, besides appealing to fulfil the objectives of ‘Swachhta’. Commanding Officer, CRPF, Pasighat Md. Farooq attended as Guest of Honour along with Deputy Director ICDS Pasighat Powung Ering Angu, HoDs, HGBs, GBs, villagers, teachers and students of nearby schools. Banks and Medical departments have also put their stalls at the venue. FPO, FOB Tezu P. Sonowal explained the aims and objectives of the programme while FPO, FOB Pasighat Mihir Kumar Jha offered vote of thanks.
A cultural programme performed by the local artistes was the main attraction of the day where girl students wearing ethnic attires presented traditional dances. Earlier, a rally cum essay competition was also organized as pre-publicity at Thomas School, Mirbuk on January 8 last and winners were awarded with attractive prizes. FOB, DIPRO
