TEZU, Jul 3: The Protection Force of Kamlang Wildlife Sanctuary during their routine patrolling has apprehended 5 alleged poachers from deep inside the richly bio-diversified sanctuary beyond Glow Lake of Wakro in Lohit district.
These arrests has come as a success of a strict vigil which has been undertaken in the wake of rampant poaching in Kamlang Wildlife Sanctuary. According to Wakro PS sources, Ranger KWLS Avard Singh Rawat and his team detained the poachers from the dense jungles on July 1 and handed them over to police. Among the arrested Jetes Lisu (24) Timuk Hai Lisu (40) are Myanmar nationals and Ngualisa Yobin (16) Ngasabo Yobin (24) and Ngwadini Lisu (25) are from Vijaynagar in Changlang district. Over 50 kg of Mishmi Takin meat, Wild Paris Phyllia (Katchu), ten live cartridges, five fired empty cartridges, twenty-five bird traps, cell phone, one Myanmar made improvised rifle were also seized from their possession.
The two Myanmarese were later brought to the Superintendent of Police office for interrogation. Special Bureau (SB) APP and SIB conducted cross-examination to authenticate their motive of intrusion. “After interrogation we came to know that these foreign nationals accompanied with their relatives of Vijaynagar were in search of Paris Polyphylla which has high price in international market. We booked them under Foreigner's Act and law will take its own course to repatriate them”, informed SP Lohit DW Thungon.
