ZIRO, Aug 18: In a major boost to enhance fish production in Lower Subansiri district, four lakh fish fingerlings were distributed to progressive fish farmers of the district on Monday and Thursday.
The fingerlings brought from Neel Bagan Fish farm Nagaon, Assam consisted of various species like rohu, katla, mirga and grass carp. Amur common carp, an improved variety of fish imported from Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture ( CIFA), Bhubaneswar, Odisha was also distributed to the beneficiaries. While handing over the fingerlings to the beneficiaries, Deputy Commissioner Somcha Lowang advised the farmers to be perseverant in their endeavour to become successful farmers.
