WALONG, Nov 5: The First Lady of the State Neelam Misra, who accompanied the Governor to Walong Garrison near the Line of Actual Control (LAC), celebrated Deepawali with local womenfolk and children at Walong on November 4. Terming the people living in the border areas as the true eyes and ears of the nation, she said "They support the Army on safety and security of the frontiers in the line of defence."
The First Lady called upon the people to continue to strictly comply with COVID-19 protocol and adhere to the COVID appropriate behaviour and getting vaccinated at the earliest opportunity.
Reaching out to the womenfolk for promotion of traditional weaving and handicrafts, she emphasised on revival of traditional loin loom for self-reliance and economic empowerment of womenfolk. To motivate those practising loin looms, she distributed yarns to the women present in the meeting.
