ITANAGAR, 23 : The First Lady of the state Neelam Misra who has been strongly advocating the promotion of Arunachal’s indigenous loin loom weaving, continued her endeavour by visiting individual houses of the loin loom weavers in the capital’s Lower Niti Vihar Colony today and observing how loin loom weaving is practised by womenfolk at home..
Enquiring about the challenges of the weavers, particularly the availability of raw materials, subsidised loans, training centres and the outlet for the produces, the First Lady emphasised on making the products more appealing and attractive to the consumers. She also advised them to take advantage of e-Marketing, the process of marketing brands using internet and sell their loin loom produces to any individual anywhere in the world. She also shared information about Government e-Market Place or GeM in short.
She said that the loin loom products of different tribes of the state are unique, attractive, exclusive and one of its kind in the world which must be preserved, promoted and popularised particularly amongst the educated young girls of society. Loin Loom weaving is a time tested self-employment avenue for ladies particularly in rural areas and should be viewed as a way of financial empowerment of women, she stressed.
