NAHARLAGUN, Jul 26:  Health Minister Alo Libang flagged off the first fleet of 5 Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances procured under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) at the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) here on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters, Libang informed that the health department has procured around 10 Advanced Life Saving (ALS) and 20 BLS ambulances under the NESIDS.
Out of total 30 Ambulances, today five have been flagged-off, added the Minister.
'One of the BLS will be used in the Dedicated Covid Healthcare Center (DCHC) at Midpu, one at Dedicated Covid hospital at Chimpu, Itanagar and the rest will be sent to Koloriang, Changlang and Aalo," Libang said.
He also said that once the remaining ALS and BLS reach the state, one each will be provided to the entire 25 districts of the state.
Responding to query, the Health Minister said that Rapid Antigen test will be done for the entire people of the state rather than prioritizing for residents of the twin capital region of Itanagar and Naharlagun.
Thus, the department has also sent maximum numbers of antigen testing kit to the respective districts, he added. Libang also clarified that there is no order issued by the department to charge money for the rapid antigen test till August 3 next month. All the random testing is being done without charges, he added.

He also informed that the installation of medical equipment is being executed at the Covid hospital, Chimpu and the work to complete the DCHC at Midpu is on a war footing, which will be completed soon.
Libang appealed the public to support the health workers and avoid discrimination.
